Boutique river cruising in India onboard is currently in focus through Canberra-based agency Active Travel, with a brand new special released offering two passengers for the price of one and no single supplement on a pair of deluxe river itineraries through the subcontinent, sailing onboard vessels in the Assam Bengal Navigation fleet.
The last minute deal is valid for sailing in April this year, for bookings made by 26 February. Fares are cruise-only, with airfares able to be purchased separately.
Itinerary #1 is a seven-night cruise on the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati. Guests will visit the Kaziranga National Park to view native wildlife including tigers and Indian rhinoceros. The voyage will be operated by the 12-cabin Charaidew and departs on 16 April 2016, priced from US$1,415 in total for two people.
Also available is a voyage onboard the ABN Rajmahal, a 22-cabin vessel which will sail the Ganges River, starting from Kolkata. The sacred river is the lifeline for millions of Hindus and intersects some very scenic landscapes and villages. Viewable on the riverbank are Buddhist Monasteries, Hindu Temples and mansions.
