Soccer fans will have access to the two most significant matches of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia – without the hassle of trying to find a hotel – as part of a major new itinerary now on sale from Celebrity Cruises as part of its massive new 2018/19 cruise season.
Relocating from a long tenure in the Caribbean, Celebrity Silhouette will cross the Atlantic to take up residency for 2018 at its new UK home port of Southampton, during which it will feature a Signature Event Sailing to the World Cup. Berthing for two consecutive nights at the climax of the tournament, guests will be able to purchase tickets to the Third Place match in St Petersburg and the Final in Moscow as part of an extended shore excursion.
The major event headlines the release of a major new Northern Hemisphere season for much of the Celebrity fleet, which will see nine ships in action across Europe. In total, ships will spend 188 nights in port in 41 different cities – 28 of which will be double overnights in seven separate destinations.
Celebrity ships will also find themselves targeting other major and more regular events, with ships to offer guests the ability to attend the French Open tennis, British Open golf, the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and the Cannes Film Festival.
Highlights of the season include:
- As previously mentioned, the relocation of Celebrity Silhouette to Southampton, from where it will sail seven and eight-night cruises into the Norwegian Fjords and multiple two-week sailings into Scandinavia, Russia, the Mediterranean, Azores, Iceland and Ireland.
- Celebrity Eclipse becoming the first major ship to be based in Dublin, where it will begin voyages over a three-month residency. Guests arriving into the Irish capital early can book a newly developed three-night pre-cruise city stay inclusive of land tours and a typically Irish farewell dinner before being transferred to the port to embark the ship.
- An overnight stay by Celebrity Constellation in the Spanish party island of Ibiza as part of the ‘Grand Med Tour’ which includes 16 ports in six countries.
- The ability to combine two 10-night and 11-night Eastern and Western Mediterranean itineraries on an alternating basis to form a mega 21-night Med cruise, taking away the tough decision of which side would be better to see by ship.
