It was a moderate hit on Channel 9 in Australia recently, and now Carnival Cruise Line is bringing the US version of the show Lip Sync Battle onboard for its guests to battle it out and show off their inner rock star performer.
Partnering with the show’s production firm, Carnival will boost its entertainment offerings by recreating an experience just like the TV show, pitting guests against each other in efforts to perform their favourite songs with exuberance, flair and showmanship. Guests will be able to dress up their performance with costumes and props, high-tech lighting, sound effects and even backup dancers from Playlist Productions, Carnival’s crew of professional dancers who perform shows such as 88 Keys and Epic Rock.
The set onstage will reflect the version seen on television, adding another element of realism to the show, which will take place multiple times during every cruise, depending on duration.
Travellers can volunteer to enter, with two successful contestants chosen at the beginning of the cruise via auditions on the Lido Deck, with no fee charged to enter. Finalists will be selected based on their creativity, originality and enthusiasm before being given time with the Playlist Productions crew to fine tune their final performance.
The final will see guests choose from more than 200 songs which they can use to dazzle the audience, which will select the winner who will receive a special prize relevant to the show.
Lip Sync Battle Carnival will debut on the line’s newest ship Carnival Vista before being rolled out to other ships in the fleet next year. For more information on the new entertainment offering, check out this new video.
