Fans of fine Scotch Whisky will soon be able to indulge their passion on a cruise ship when one of the world’s most popular spirit brands opens its first dedicated bar and spirit education experience onboard the first Dream Cruises ship, Genting Dream.
Open from the day of the ship’s debut this coming November, the “Johnnie Walker House” tasting bar will be an eponymous tribute to the iconic aperitif, where travellers can discover and sample different types of whisky, learn about the spirit’s heritage, lineage, development and provenance in a luxurious setting specifically designed to encapsulate the sophistication and style associated with the brand.
As well having an opportunity to sample and appreciate the spectrum of Johnnie Walker Super Deluxe spirit blends, guests in Johnnie Walker House will be able to pair their drinks with a variety of canapes and tasting plates under a decorative “whisky constellation wall” which pays tribute to the marque’s storied history. A variety of unique Scotch Whisky cocktail blends and pairing menus will be exclusively available onboard.
The constellation wall looks at the Johnnie Walker ‘Art of Blending’, which indexes the world of Scotch Whisky distilleries which supply the brand with a myriad of over seven million casks of different whiskies and products from which its blends are made. In addition, cruises on Genting Dream will feature occasional intimate and immersive whisky conversations with experts and purists who can engage and share in whisky techniques, preferences & passions.
Collectors and enthusiasts can also grow their personal cellars with exclusive opportunities onboard to purchase – duty free – some of the world’s rarest John Walker & Sons ancient single malt blends, which will be available along with an immersive mentoring experience. Bottles purchased can also be engraved with a custom message for that unique touch.
Once Genting Dream sets sail, it will be the maiden flagship of Dream Cruises, the premium marque in the Genting Hong Kong house of Asian cruise labels which also includes the contemporary and long-established Star Cruises and the luxury Crystal Cruises. The brand will offer a range of itineraries from 2-7 days duration, visiting ports including Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Nha Trang from home ports in Hong Kong and Guangzhou, China.
