The first of two brand new luxury ocean ships destined to sail for Seabourn has met water for the first time, floated out of its building dock at the Fincantieri Marghera shipyard in Italy, accompanied by the traditional ceremony to mark the occasion.
Seabourn Encore floated from its dry dock into the outfitting dock where all of the furnishings throughout the ship will be fitted. Cutting the ceremonial cord to flood the building dock was Marnie Tihany, the wife of the ship’s interior designer Adam D Tihany. The ship will be formally handed over to its owners at the end of the year.
After an inaugural shakedown voyage from Italy to Singapore where it will be christened, the ship will continue south bound for Australia where it will spend its maiden season.
Tasked with masterminding modern, comfortable and contemporary interiors in line with Seabourn’s mantra of “understated luxury”, Encore‘s designer Adam D Tihany will enhance on the decor on its existing fleet of three ships to develop the style on the new ship. Every part of the passenger experience will be modelled around Seabourn’s culture of service, with nearly one crew member for every guest onboard.
“Seeing Seabourn Encore in the water is a very special moment and represents another important step toward the completion of our highly-anticipated ship. We continue to hear from our guests and travel industry partners about their excitement for this incredible ship, and they are just as eager as we are to welcome her to the Seabourn family later this year,” said Seabourn President Richard Meadows.
