Cruisers are clearly loving their chocolate products while at sea – so much so that another cruise line has now moved to bolster its onboard range of gooey treats and desserts.
Pastry chef and chocolatier Jean-Philippe Maury has partnered with MSC Cruises to develop a menu of tasty chocolate desserts and snacks on the MSC Divina, currently based in Florida and sailing in the Caribbean. The French born Maury is an award-winning chef and owns three shops across the United States, including within the Bellagio Resort in Las Vegas, which boasts the world’s highest chocolate fountain.
New menu items will appear in the buffet of the ship’s main restaurant, in speciality dining venues and in the MSC Yacht Club for the enjoyment of guests travelling in that category.
From there, the partnership will be expanded to other ships in the MSC fleet along with a permanent presence on the line’s newest ship MSC Meraviglia, which due to be delivered in May next year. A dedicated chocolate atelier and open kitchen will feature on the forthcoming addition to the fleet, where guests will be able to watch trained chocolate artists creating their fine wares. A dedicated ice-cream parlour and creperie will also be opened in the central promenade area.
