Already offered in Alaska and Western Canada, travellers can now combine a land tour with a cruise in New Zealand as part of a revised range of products on sale from tour operator APT.
The company’s new brochure features a new 24-day ‘New Zealand Voyager’ itinerary which mixes a 10-day tour encompassing the middle of the South Island before embarking on Holland America Line’s MS Noordam for a 14-day cruise from Auckland down the east coast of New Zealand and back to Australia. This means you only need to fly one-way to New Zealand and can end your holiday by sailing into Sydney Harbour.
Beginning in Christchurch, guests take the TranzAlpine train to Arthur’s Pass, visiting the Franz Josef Glacier, Queenstown & Lake Tekapo before flying to Auckland. After a trip to the Bay of Islands, guests return to Auckland to board the ship. Luxury accommodation features throughout the land-based portion of the holiday as well.
Once in your Verandah stateroom onboard Noordam, the cruise takes guests to Rotorua, Napier, Wellington, Picton, Dunedin and through Milford Sound before crossing the Tasman Sea to Tasmania. A final stop in Melbourne precedes the final arrival in Sydney.
APT executive general manager global sales and marketing Debra Fox said the company was always looking to widen its range of touring options for guests keen to visit New Zealand.
“Our guests are keen to explore New Zealand from many different vistas. Last year we introduced rail journeys to the portfolio, this year we are complementing it further with ocean cruising. Agents love APT’s program because it offers high end luxury, it is fully inclusive, guests are looked after throughout and there is an itinerary to suit everyone,” she said.
The 24-day itinerary is priced from $8,995 per person twin share and is now on sale. Guests can fly to New Zealand for free, including air taxes of up to $600 per person for bookings received and deposited before 31 July 2016.
A similar itinerary travelling with APT sister brand Travelmarvel is also available, with the 24-day ‘New Zealand Navigator’ priced from $6,995 per person twin share and including an Ocean View Stateroom instead of a Verandah Balcony on the 14-night cruise.
