It’s hard to believe that with the metoric growth of Australian cruising over the last 7-8 years and beyond, a line like Azamara Club Cruises has never before visited these waters until now.

Granted, there are only two ships in the fleet – Azamara Quest and Azamara Journey – and its immense popularity in other parts of the world generally saw the two ships circle the Northern Hemisphere most of the year, occasionally venturing into Asia during the colder months in the north. But as the old saying goes, better late than never.

Three days before 2015 came to an end, Azamara Quest reached land in Australia for the first time, part-way through an itinerary from Bali to Cairns. After heading south, the ship arrived in the home of Australian cruising – Sydney – on 14 January 2015. The ship then embarked on two one-way journeys between Australia and New Zealand before turning and heading back to Asia. While brief, the line’s love affair with Australia is now set to continue, with Azamara Journey visiting next year before Quest makes a second visit a year later.

During its maiden stay in Sydney, Cruise Advice was invited onboard for a look around.
