Three decades of music hits from the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s will be celebrated on the inaugural Murray Music Cruise, to be operated by Captain Cook Cruises on the Murray River. The round-trip voyage will depart from the South Australian town of Mannum, approximately 84kms from Adelaide, at 4:30pm on 05 August 2016.
Popular Adelaide radio presenter Dom Rinaldo will host the sailing onboard the line’s signature PS Murray Princess paddlewheeler, coordinating the music and activities each themed evening, which will also come with era-appropriate food and cocktails.
The weekend will kick off with a 60’s themed Welcome Dinner with tunes from The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley and more. Next evening, the clock fasts forward into the next decade, with guests encouraged to dress up in their favourite 1970’s costumes for ‘Saturday Night Fever’ night. The disco night will include hits from the Bee Gees, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Village People, Fleetwood Mac, KISS, Aerosmith and more. A Captain’s Dinner on the final night will take place with the soundtrack from the 1980’s such as Paul Simon, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Bon Jovi and more.
As the cruise travels along the Murray River part of the day, music quizzes and dance competitions will also take place, while guests will also have the opportunity to tour historic towns along the river such as Murray Bridge, a guided nature walk at Salt Bush Flat, food and wine tasting and wildlife tours.
Early booking fares for the three-night sailing are on sale until 07 May 2016, with fares priced from $787 per person twin share.
