India is a cultural melting pot in many ways, two of which routinely transcend the country’s physical borders and universally showcase a national identity – Bollywood movies & cricket.
The two passions have grown to become synonymous with India and are now both set to head out to sea, starring on two itineraries onboard Star Cruises’ SuperStar Virgo as it travels between Singapore and Mumbai. Cabins went on sale this week, with the first departure scheduled for 06 March 2017. Both one-way itineraries are 14-days in duration but are also on sale in four shorter seven-day segments. The cruises will stop in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Phuket, Colombo and Cochin before arriving in Mumbai and setting off again in reverse.
Dubbed ‘Monarch Cruise’, the experience brings together luminaries of international cricket and Bollywood movies with cruise passengers. For cricket lovers, Australian bowlers Brett Lee and Shane Warne will take part, as will former Sri Lanka Captain Kumar Sangakkara. Headlining the cricket dignitaries will be Sachin Tendulkar, regarded by Indian cricket tragics as nothing short of a deity.
Representing Bollywood and the Indian entertainment industry will be identities such as stand-up comic Vir Das, DJ Khushi, singers Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Neha Kakkar, actress Neha Dhupia, rapper Badshah and famed chef Sanjeev Kapoor. More personalities are subject to be added as the departure date nears.
Onboard, guests will be able to mingle with the stars at regularly scheduled events onboard the ship and gala occasions in port. Entertainment onboard will also include masterclasses in cricket, Bollywood themed shows, magic shows, photo opportunities, demonstrations of Indian cooking and culinary expertise, wine tasting and more. Plans are also underway for guests to attend special Twenty20 cricket matches onshore at different ports in India.
“This is such a unique concept and I am delighted to be a part of it. I’m looking forward to joining with many of my international cricketing friends as we bring a slice of cricket history to the fans in a way never seen before,” Sachin Tendulkar commented.
Itineraries are priced from $1,718 per person twin share, with staterooms now on sale. For more information, CLICK HERE.
