In a shift away from its Mediterranean heartland, Crystal Serenity – one of two high-end luxury ocean ships in the Crystal Cruises fleet – will spend the majority of 2017 sailing in North America, operating on both sides of the continent, the line announced today.
Following a 94-day circumnavigation of South America, departing from Miami, Florida and operating from January to April, the ship will relocate to the US West Coast and begin a year-long clockwise rotation around North America, spending time in a variety of locations from Los Angeles, Mexico, Hawaii, Alaska, Canada, New England and back to Miami.
Itineraries will include seven-day journeys along the California coast, a 14-day cruise to Mexico, a complete voyage through the Hawaiian Islands, a series of voyages into Alaska and British Columbia during summer before moving back to the east for the fall foliage of New England, concluding the year back in the Caribbean for the northern winter.
The shift from the ship’s traditional home in Europe comes during a period of major expansion for Crystal Cruises as whole, which over coming years will see the addition of a luxury yacht, three new ice-strengthened oceangoing ships, five European river cruise vessels and even luxury air-cruising in the form of Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft.
Cabin reservations for the North American season of voyages onboard Crystal Serenity will open at the beginning of 2016.
