Australians are addicted to river cruising in Europe, and in line with this surge in popularity, another brand is set to join the fray from next year, ramping up its promotional presence and adding to the already wide variety on sale in the local market.
Amras Cruises is an American brand which has recently expanded into the Australian market, offering a range of sailings on rivers including the Blue Danube, Rhine and Seine onboard the Amadeus fleet of river vessels.
Seven itineraries are available in total as part of an initial range on sale in Australia, priced from $2,995 per person twin share for an eight-day cruise. Amras Cruises claims its river vessels are among the youngest sailing in Europe, with an average age of four years.
One of the points of difference Amras Cruises will use is for Australians to mingle with passengers from other English speaking countries including North America and Britain, while enjoying quintessentially Austrian service and hospitality. The flagship 15-day Amsterdam to Budapest route – one of the most popular European river cruise journeys travelled by Australians – starts from $6,395 per person twin share.
Included Amras Cruises fares are all shore excursions while docked, services of an English-speaking guide, cultural excursions and headsets to allow passengers to listen to commentary and interesting facts about the sights they see. All meals onboard the ships are also included along with alcoholic beverages during meal times. Any additional alcohol requested at other times of the day can be purchased as required.
