Carinthia Lounge will pay homage to the golden age of Cunard

Elegant British cruise line Cunard has released a rendering image of a new venue to be added to the Queen Mary 2 as part of the ship’s month-long, multi-million dollar refit next year.

The area formerly known as the Winter Garden will be transformed into the Carinthia Lounge, which has been named after one of Cunard’s favourite ladies in its esteemed history – the Carinthia – which served Cunard during the Golden Era of cruising in the 1920’s. The venue will be positioned as a relaxing haven which will transition throughout the day from a cheery breakfast and lunch venue, relax with a good book over afternoon tea later in the day and seamlessly becoming an exciting after-dinner hangout. When the sun goes down, guests will be able to partake in premium wines, small nibble plates and enjoy some live entertainment.

Carinthia Lounge will welcome guests with an energetic colour scheme of powder blue, cream and gold, with dining chairs and curved lounges with a wine wall and dark walnut timber coloured dance floor to waltz the night away.

“We believe this space will truly elevate the Queen Mary 2 experience, adding new innovative culinary options, as well as another level of refined relaxation and entertainment for our guests,” said Cunard North America President Richard Meadows.

Queen Mary will enter dry dock for its major renovation and refurbishment from 27 May to 21 June next year.
